With mine, for a while, i’ve lost my voice. Every email, announcement, decision was proofread and adjusted by her until one day we all sounded the same. Worst experience ever.
That’s a terrible experience, and far more common than people admit.
I’m really sorry you went through that. That kind of environment drains people in ways that aren’t obvious at first. I hope you’re somewhere your voice is actually valued now.
It’s funny, we are still in the same company, different departments, I can see that she is still struggling with micromanagement but now she is concisely trying to change. At least she is aware, that is huge for those persons because it’s stronger than them. They are doing it completely unaware that what they are doing is wrong. I am pretty sure they believe that they do not micromanage, just making sure that everything is in order :)
